GB MEN FINISH THIRD IN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic: July 31 -- In a surprise ending to the European Men's Fastpitch Championships today in the Czech Republic, Denmark defeated the Czechs 5-2 to take the Gold Medal after the Czechs had reached the final with an 11-4 win over Great Britain. GB once again finished third, as they did in 2008.

iTALY WINS THE EUROPEAN JUNIOR WOMEN'S FASTPITCH CHAMPIONSHIP

Vienna, Austria: July 31 -- Italy won the 2010 European Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Championship here tonight with a routine 9-2 win over a German team thrilled to have got to the final and to have booked a place in next year's Junior World Championships in South Africa. Italy and Germany will be joined there by Russia, who came from behind to defeat the Czechs in the Bronze Medal game.

Vienna, Austria: July 31 -- The surprises keep coming at the European Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Championship here in Vienna, and following the elimination of Holland from medal contention last night, today we had Germany reaching their first European final at this level with a deserved 8-4 win over the Czech Republic. Vienna, Austria: July 30 -- A heavy rainstorm broke over Vienna yesterday afternoon, and it hasn't stopped raining since. All play at the European Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Championships has been suspended, though organisers are hoping to resume this afternoon and finish the tournament tomorrow.

The GB Men's Fastpitch Team will train in London for several days before heading for the Czech Republic on Saturday, July 24 for the 2010 European Men's Championship in the town of Havlickuv Brod, where GB will open the tournament against the Czech Republic on July 25 and will look for a playoff place.
