iTALY WINS THE EUROPEAN JUNIOR WOMEN'S FASTPITCH CHAMPIONSHIP

Vienna, Austria: July 31 -- Italy won the 2010 European Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Championship here tonight with a routine 9-2 win over a German team thrilled to have got to the final and to have booked a place in next year's Junior World Championships in South Africa. Italy and Germany will be joined there by Russia, who came from behind to defeat the Czechs in the Bronze Medal game. more

Vienna, Austria: July 31 -- The surprises keep coming at the European Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Championship here in Vienna, and following the elimination of Holland from medal contention last night, today we had Germany reaching their first European final at this level with a deserved 8-4 win over the Czech Republic. Vienna, Austria: July 31 -- A quick, eager and well-drilled Russian team dumped the favoured Netherlands out of the medal positions at the European Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Championships last night. But Russia was defeated this morning by Italy and can now only play for third place later today. more

GB JUNIORS END EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP IN NINTH PLACE AFTER LAST TWO GAMES ARE CANCELLED

Vienna, Austria: July 30 -- Almost 24 hours of rain that only stopped at mid-afternoon today forced the organisers to cancel GB's last two games at the European Junior Championships. Britain was declared winners of the tournament's lower half and finished in ninth place overall. But this was a bitterly unlucky tournament for GB. more

JAMES DARBY STRIKES OUT 21 AS GB MEN BEAT ISRAEL

Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic: July 29 -- Today's game against Israel in the European Men's Fastpitch Championships was a game the GB Men's Team had to have. So they pitched ace James Darby and he struck out 21 Israelis in a 6-0 GB win. more
