GB MEN FINISH THIRD IN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic: July 31 -- In a surprise ending to the European Men's Fastpitch Championships today in the Czech Republic, Denmark defeated the Czechs 5-2 to take the Gold Medal after the Czechs had reached the final with an 11-4 win over Great Britain. GB once again finished third, as they did in 2008.

iTALY WINS THE EUROPEAN JUNIOR WOMEN'S FASTPITCH CHAMPIONSHIP

Vienna, Austria: July 31 -- Italy won the 2010 European Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Championship here tonight with a routine 9-2 win over a German team thrilled to have got to the final and to have booked a place in next year's Junior World Championships in South Africa. Italy and Germany will be joined there by Russia, who came from behind to defeat the Czechs in the Bronze Medal game.

GERMANY AND ITALY TO CONTEST EUROPEAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Vienna, Austria: July 31 -- The surprises keep coming at the European Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Championship here in Vienna, and following the elimination of Holland from medal contention last night, today we had Germany reaching their first European final at this level with a deserved 8-4 win over the Czech Republic. The Germans will play Italy at 6.00 pm. GB stats included in this story.

Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic: July 29 -- Today's game against Israel in the European Men's Fastpitch Championships was a game the GB Men's Team had to have. So they pitched ace James Darby and he struck out 21 Israelis in a 6-0 GB win.
